NEDCare is a registered charity, providing regulated care across North East Dartmoor

We put the people we support at the heart of what we do, delivering personalised care that responds to each client individually, respecting and encouraging their independence

Our carers aim to build trusting, friendly, professional relationships with the clients we work with offering them a choice about how their care is delivered. Building relationships of trust between Carers and clients is of utmost importance to us, and our staff treat clients with dignity and respect at all times.

Our Services

Our Story

NEDCare was set up in 2016 by a small group of local people, in response to what co-founder Julia Darby termed the ‘significant lack’ of regulated care on offer in the local area. Many people in the local community not able to access the care and support they needed, increasing the risk of worsening health conditions or hospital admission.

In 2017 the Care Quality Commission approved NEDCare to deliver regulated care. This means we met national regulations and requirements. We have since been inspected by them in 2018 and further checked in 2021, rated as “good” in all areas. We now offer over 1000 hours of care each month in the local community.

Meet our Team

NEDCare’s vision is ‘Care for everyone who needs it, where, when and how they need it’

As a registered charity, NEDCare’s viability is enhanced by fundraising and donations. This helps us to offer support for those who most need it in the local area.

NEDCare has won awards recognising the impact of our work, including the Locality Power of Community Award in 2019. We are also an invited member of the Social Care Institute for Excellence’s Innovation Network.

NEDCare converted from a Community Interest Company to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in June 2020.  You can view our latest charity accounts here.

If you have any questions about the reports, or want to know more about the work we do, please email us on admin@nedcare.org.

What Our Clients Say

All the Carers are so nice, so friendly, and willing to do anything to help. I am getting to know all of the Carers well, and they send through a rota each week so I know who is coming, which is very helpful. I can't recommend NEDCare highly enough!

T.R.

You helped [my mother] stay at home, which is where she wanted to be… You had more success than other services which had a very clinical approach. It was all about little and often with mother, so she could accept the care on her terms when she was ready. Which she did. NEDCare empowers the person who they are caring for.

M.G.

My Carers are a good team and they treat me with respect. They enjoy working [at NEDCare], which makes me as a client feel safe.

D.G.

The staff are kind and they keep me motivated. NEDCare staff cheer me up and make my day brighter.

Fundraising and donations help us to provide a high quality service for those who most need it.
